Website Developer
Reporting directly to the Editor-in-chief and working closely with the Design lead, the website developer’s (WD) main responsibility is to manage website development. The WD implements web pages, maintains content and oversees day-to-day management of the web site: assuring quality and filing integrity of web pages. This position is based in Calgary
Responsibilities
The WD should also have good writing and organizational skills. The WD must be able to effectively complete multiple tasks, priorities, and handle deadlines and responsibilities. The WD should be able to work independently and cooperatively. Commitment and dedication to the magazine and an enthusiasm for the WM culture is a must.
The applicant must be familiar with HTML, CSS, Javascript, Action-script and C++ along with the following programs: Photoshop, Dreamweaver and Flash. Knowledge of content management systems is an asset.

Volunteer Coordinator
The Volunteer Coordinator works in collaboration with all other Leads in the Western Muslim. The Volunteer Coordinator’ s function is to rally and direct volunteer participation in all areas of the magazine. Reporting directly to the Business Development Lead, the Volunteer Coordinator must also participate in and be familiar with the processes and departments of the magazine. This position is based in Calgary.
Skills The Volunteer Coordinator must have very good communication and organizational skills, excellent written communication skills and should be able to create visual promotions. The Volunteer Coordinator should possess experience with volunteer programs, the coordination of volunteer services, and demonstrate the ability to supervise volunteers. The Volunteer Coordinator must be able to effectively complete multiple tasks, priorities, and handle deadlines and responsibilities. And should be able to work independently and cooperatively with staff, volunteers and stakeholders.

Writers
The Writer works in a team within the content department and reports to the Writing Lead. The overall responsibility of the Writer is to create feature articles following the Western Muslim content guidelines. Key areas of responsibility include writing articles, assisting in proofreading articles, generating article topics and attending regular content meetings. The Writer consults with the Writing Lead on a regular basis, providing updates.
A Writer must have a broad knowledge of current and emerging issues and superior writing and researching skills. The candidate must also have excellent communication and interpersonal skills, possess excellent English language skills, knowledge of magazine style writing and ability to meet the submission requirements.
