Salma Mohiuddin is an artist and urban planner who graduated from the University of Calgary. She is the co-creator and former editor of The Western Muslim Magazine and has held director positions in a number of non-profit organizations. Salma is currently working as an urban planner in Calgary.
Imran Mohiuddin is a writer, musician and a student majoring in Political Science at the University of Calgary. He is active in the Western Muslim Club – University Chapter at the University of Calgary and has helped organized numerous high profile events in Calgary. Imran has been active in The Western Muslim Initiative since 2004.
Saadiq Mohiuddin is a graphic designer, web designer and civil engineer who graduated from the University of Calgary. He is the creator and director of Carpet Films, and a co-producer of the documentary film “Muslim MD.” Saadiq is also the co-creator of The Western Muslim Magazine and The Western Muslim Club - University Chapter and has held a number of director positions in the non-profit sector.
Jacqueline Nahirney is an artist, web designer and a professional interior designer. She is an active volunteer with The Mustard Seed and has been previously involved with campaigns for various volunteer organizations.
Firaz Khan Firaz is a writer and activist with a degree in Political Science from the University of Calgary. He is co-creator and former president of the Western Muslim Club at the University of Calgary. Firaz has been involved in various political and social justice causes over the years both locally, provincially and federally. He is also a co-founder, producer and creative director of Basement Haxx Producuctions.
Erin Van Overloop is a visual artist and outdoor and travel enthusiast. She graduated from the University of Alberta with a degree in environmental sciences and currently works as a planner in Calgary. Erin embraced Islam in 2008 and has an interest in Islamic environmental ethics, western Muslim identity, and convert initiatives.
Marwa Fadol is a Psychologist who works with children, youth, and their families in Calgary. She has been actively involved in the Muslim community in Calgary since 2009, taking on various roles and supporting different initiatives. Currently, along with being on the WMI board, Marwa is also on the National Board for the Islamic Social Services Association (ISSA), and is also a founding member of the Muslim Social Development Initiative (MSDI) here in Calgary.
Mina Fadol is an athletic therapist at a private clinic and is a member of the Canadian Pro Rodeo Sport Medicine Team. Mina completed her Kinesiology and Health Science degree at York University and a post-graduate certificate in Athletic Therapy at Mount Royal University. Mina has held board positions in various community organizations and is currently a board member of the Muslim Social Development Initiative (MSDI).
Madiha Vaid is a Certified Fraud Examiner and a graduate from the University of Toronto with a Specialist in Economics for Management & Political Science. She has helped organize numerous events in both Toronto and Calgary and has also held director positions in several non-profit organizations. She also founded the Calgary Islamic Marriage Assistance Program (CIMAP). Madiha is currently working as a public servant in Calgary.
Chris Venus was born and raised in Calgary, Canada. He converted to Islam while at the University of Calgary in 2009 during his Communications Studies degree. He also has a diploma from SAIT Polytechnic in Radio Broadcasting. He now finds himself working for a digital design company as a social media strategist.
